-- The new www.SkiButternut.com and www.SkiButternut.com/m feature better integration of media and social networking services --
-- The special mobile-optimized version of the site makes finding information on-the-go a breeze --

Great Barrington, Mass., Nov. 1, 2011 -- Guests at Ski Butternut know that they can rely on our mountain hosts, office staff, and snowsports instructors to provide them with helpful information and advice when they're here, and we wanted to make sure that our website was just as user-friendly. Last month, we launched a new version of our website to make the online experience at www.SkiButternut.com  easier, more informative, and even more fun.

The new homepage features clear sections at the top for straightforward navigation, a big rotating info-graphic to highlight our featured programs and special offers, a ski report summary bar that offers an at-a-glance look at our current snow conditions, and embedded video that will change throughout the season. Throughout the site, a greater emphasis is placed on media, with features such as a new and improved photo gallery, and Butternut TV, a library of mountain videos that can be browsed by topic of interest (like ski school, terrain parks, and tubing). Helpful information, like driving directions, phone lists, and department-specific email contact forms, are just a click away on the top navigation bar. An interactive trail map makes it easy to plan your runs based on ability, and even to see photos and videos taken on each trail.

The site also features tighter integration with various social media services. "Our guests have been interacting with us online more than ever -- emailing us stories, posting photos and videos, tweeting and checking-in," said Matt Sawyer, Director of Marketing, "and we wanted to make it easy to find all of these online resources in one place." Along the top of each page on our site, a fixed toolbar provides links to our three main Facebook pages, a separate Facebook page is dedicated exclusively to the terrain parks, our Twitter feed, our YouTube page, and our blog. Guests are encouraged to post to and participate in discussions on any of these sites, and we strive to answer questions quickly no matter where they appear.

Our three Facebook pages (primary, Terrain Parks and Racing) (http://www.facebook.com/skibutternut) have been redesigned to provide more information without having to visit our official website. A welcome screen on the Facebook page displays our photo of the day, as well as a ski report summary and direct links to helpful information like our trail map and ticket prices.

Last but not least, we've launched a state-of-the-art mobile version of the official Ski Butternut website. When a user navigates to www.skibutternut.com on their phone, the site automatically detects the type of device being used, and shows an appropriate version. On smartphones like the iPhone and those running the Android and Blackberry operating systems, a special mobile-optimized site is shown. The site features most of the same content as our full-scale webpage, including enhanced features like the interactive trail map and videos, but is designed to be fast-loading and easy to view on small screens. It also has special phone-only features like click-to-call links.
