This all-day program introduces young skiers (age 6 to 14 years of age) to alpine ski racing. Coaches will help athletes develop good fundamental skiing skills, while introducing both the mental and physical elements of racing and preparing them for slalom and giant slalom races. Participants in this program must be able to ski parallel on all Ski Butternut terrain and ride all lifts on their own!
Young racers will have the opportunity to compete in Interclub races against other ski teams in the Berkshires. Racers must be a member of both USSA & Tri-State to compete. See their links below to learn how to join. These races provide kids a chance to experience and refine their newly developed skills in a competitive race environment.
Program STARTS on Dec. 24 with the Christmas Race Camp (included in price on 12/24, 12/26-12/31). Race training continues every Saturday & Sunday (excluding 12/25), from 9a to 11a, and from 12:30p to 2:30p, ending Sunday, March 3rd.
On race days all Interclub coaches will be attending the races, anyone not racing will be on their own.
After a year or two in Interclub, kids with lots of drive and motivation will likely choose to move on to our more competitive Tri-State race program.
NOTE: Racers USSA number should be entered in the appropriate location on the 2012/2013 Racing & Programs Application.
