New for Winter 2009-10 110 new Snowguns - Top Gun 18ft Pipe Dream tower models - Means MORE SNOW FASTER! Installed over a mile of new air and water lines. 1200 Sets of NEW RENTAL GEAR Rossignol Skis & Burton LTR Snowboards and over 3200 new boots. Revamped Rental Facility including all new ski & snowboard storage and drying racks. Rearranged the configuration of our 4 Carpet Lifts on our beginner hill to enhance our guests experience and to create a separate place for our littlest sliders.

New for Winter 2008-09: 3 New Magic Carpets will offer 1st timers and our kids programs an easy way to access the appropriate beginner terrain enhancing their learning experience. MORE SNOW - the result of a few miles of new air and water lines have been installed on the mountain increasing the volume of water and therefore increasing the amount of snow we can make on Leap, The Main Street Race Course, Freewheeler and Scooter. More snowmaking Nozzle offering more places we can place snowguns which increases coverage, A new Bombardier BR350 Groomer has been added to our grooming fleet (our corduroy should look and feel that much smarter this season). A new larger and longer Progression Park will make it fun for anyone interested in experiencing Terrain Park features and catching a little air. This provides a spot for those less experienced to learn the nuances of the sport. In addition this offering should move some less experienced Terrain Park users off of the more advanced features currently being offered in the TWISTED Terrain Park. This new progression terrain will be available on the skiers far right side of the Cruiser slope below the Crosstown access running to the groomer access road to the Tubing Center. The terrain features have been removed from the beginner Paddy's & Scooter beginner slopes behind the rental building. So we now have more terrain dedicated to those just learning to ski or snowboard with less conflict of user interest.

New For Winter 2007-08: 225% MORE SNOW - New Pump House and miles of new 12 & 8-inch snowmaking pipe. A New Pump House may not sound as impressive as a new lift or trail, but it is! This year we will pump 3600 gallons of water per minute (this compares with last year's capability of less than 1600 gallons per minute).

What this means to you: The new snowmaking facilities will allow us to MAKE MORE SNOW, FASTER (225% more, in fact!), building a deeper base overall. as a result, we will have the ability to OPEN TRAILS QUICKER and resurface trails with a fresh blanket of corduroy snow faster, after any adverse weather conditions. Ski Butternut has always had a reputation for high quality snow and fantastic grooming. Now we've got our snowmaking team singing

"Let it Snow - Let it Snow - Let it Snow!"

Winter 2006-07: New Ski Patrol Building at the top of the mountain, just to the right of the Top Flight Quad.

Winter 05-06 additions: New Cruiser Quad Chairlift; Located on the cruiser slope, this makes it our third quad chairlift, increasing the ski area's up-hill capacity to 13,275 skiers per hr. also new for last winter, 22 additional snowguns, new rubber carpet for the rental area, new Head rental skis (350 pairs), 350 pairs of new boots and 100 new Head snowboards. Also new this year, a Terrain Park pass designed to educate all users on how to enjoy the park safely.
